Giwa Ayoka Sikirat, a 53-year old grandmother, has been arrested with cocaine hidden in her hair, Nigeria’s anti-drug agency said on Monday. Sikirat was apprehended at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Abuja, the Nigerian Capital, while on her way to Pakistan, the agency said. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said the suspect was arrested at the weekend following the discovery and seizure of a kilogramme of white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine$ “The suspect, Giwa Ayoka Sikirat concealed the drug in her beautiful hair style while trying to board an Ethiopian airline Flight ET 910 to Pakistan enroute Addis Ababa and Dubai,” NDLEA said in a statement. NDLEA Abuja Airport commander, Mr Hamisu Lawan, was quoted as saying: “There was no prior information on Sikirat as the drug was detected when a female officer carried out a body frisk on her during outward screening of passengers.” Lawan said a 59-year old suspected accomplice, Joseph Umunna, an indigene of Anambra State, who brought Sikirat to the airport, was also arrested. NDLEA said the drug was concealed in her hair in Lagos before she was taken to Abuja by her sponsors. “Both suspects will soon be charged to court in line with the NDLEA Act for unlawful exportation and conspiracy to export 1kg of cocaine,” NDLEA. The agency said Sikirat attended St. Louis Primary School, Mushin and Isolo Secondary School both in Lagos, southwest Nigeria. She also attended School of Fashion and Design in Lagos in 1994. Armed Robbers Invade Delta Church During Sunday Service, Snatch Church Offering Box

A five-man gang of armed robbers has raided a new generation church(name withheld) in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North East of Delta State and snatched the church’s offering and abducted the security guard, leaving one person dead. An eye witness said the robbers shot sporadically into the air to pave way for their operation in the church at about 10:30am during prayer session and ordered the worshippers to face the ground while their operation lasted. Reports said that the gunmen ransacked everywhere in the church where some prominent politicians worship for close to an hour before they allegedly vented their anger on the pastor whose failure to make more money available earned him a punishment of “frog jumps”. Sources revealed that the hoodlums came in a black jeep with no plate number and were armed with AK 47s in a commando style to scare passersby. However, the pastor in charge of the church who did not want his name in print, disclosed that the offering box contained an estimated sum of N0.5million being offering and thanksgiving by some highly placed personalities and appealed to the gang to release the security guard. Police spokesman in the state, ASP Famous Ajieh, confirmed the incident and revealed that the whereabouts of the security guard was yet to be established. He said that concerted efforts to rescue the victim were ongoing, adding that efforts to also arrest the hoodlums have been put in place especially in strategic areas. NO BE SMALL THING!

Two Headed Baby Girl Delivered In Katsina Nigeria

A baby girl with what appears to be two heads has been delivered at the General Hospital, Malumfashi, Katsina State.
The baby has also has a cleft palate and stunted fingers. The 19-year-old Zainabu Dahiru gave birth to the baby with no eyes on Sunday night. The baby’s father, Malam Dahiru Umar, at his residence at Unguwar-Sodangi in Malumfashi on Tuesday that the baby was born through normal delivery. Umar, a 25-year-old petty trader, said the baby was their first and his wife attended regular ante-natal care during pregnancy. He said he burst into tears on sighting the baby and sympathetic hospital workers told him that they could not offer any medical assistance beside the delivery. He said the workers informed him that his wife was in stable condition and referred the baby to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, near, Zaria. Umar appealed to government, wealthy individuals and non governmental organisation’s for support. Meanwhile, effort to speak with Medical Director of the General Hospital failed. However, a paediatrician, Dr Ahmad Bala, who spoke to NAN, said the baby needed maximum medical examination to ascertain the nature of the abnormalities. Bala said the medical examination would include physical checks, X-ray and other diagnosis that would equipped a physician to speak properly on the matter at hand and possible remedies. NAN report that the new born baby and her mother were still at home. When shown the photograph of the baby, a gynaecologist at the Garki Hospital, Abuja, Dr Kayode Obende, said the condition was called encephacele. According to Wikipedia, the free encycopaedia, encephalocele is a neural tube defect characterised by sac-like protrusions of the brain and the membranes that cover it through openings in the skull. These defects are caused by failure of the neural tube to close completely during fetal development. Encephaloceles cause a groove down the middle of the skull, or between the forehead and nose, or on the back side of the skull. The severity of encephalocele varies, depending on its location. Encephaloceles occur rarely, at a rate of one per 5,000 live births worldwide. Encephaloceles of the back of the head are more common in Europe and North America, while encephaloceles on the front of the head more frequently occur in Southeast Asia, Africa, Malaysia, and Russia. Ethnic, genetic, and environmental factors, as well as parental age, can all affect the likelihood of encephaloceles. The condition can occur in families with a family history of spina bifida. Although the exact cause is unknown, encephaloceles are caused by failure of the neural tube to close completely during foetal development. Research has indicated that teratogens (substances known to cause birth defects), trypan blue (a stain used to colour dead tissues or cells blue), and arsenic may damage the developing foetus and cause encephaloceles. Proper levels of folic acid have been shown to help prevent such defects when taken before pregnancy, and early in pregnancy. It is recommended that women who may become pregnant take 400 micrograms of folic acid daily. NO BE SMALL THING!

Police arrest 70 over murder of Nigerian musician Damoche

The Nigerian Police has arrested not fewer than 70 persons in connection with the death of musician Damilola Damoche, a 400 level student of the Lagos State University, LASU, who was murdered in cold blood last Thursday by suspected cultists. Vanguard gathered that the arrest was made by a combined team of the Area E police command who paraded the streets of Ojo, Iba, PPL, Igbo-Elerin, Igando, Okokomaiko, Iyana-Isashi and Onireke communities to fish out those involved in the clash. The 25-year-old, who was a final year Banking and Finance student was brutally killed few metres away to the gate of the institution after writing a test. Meanwhile, some pictures of corpse suspected to be students of the Lagos State University went viral on the Internet on Saturday, heightening tension in the school and its environs. Consequently, students of the institution have expressed fear that some cult members might want to avenge Damoche’s death. Speaking with the Student Union President, Ibrahim Tunji, who denied the death of more students, stated that the campus is calm. He said: “I have not received news of the death of any student. I left the school on Friday and I came back on Saturday. So I wouldn’t know if anything had happened. You know anyone can fabricate any story but I don’t think there is need for panic”. The police, as at the time of filing this report, have transferred the arrested suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigations.                                    NO BE SMALL THIG!

Grandma Found Dead after Meeting with 28 Year-Old Nigerian who proposed to her on Online Dating Site

A widowed Australian grandmother travelled to South Africa to marry the young man she had fallen in love with over the internet. Three months later she was dead. The body of West Australian woman Jette Jacobs, 67, was found in February, just two days after she met up with a 28-year-old man calling himself Jesse Orowo Omokoh.

An exchange between Jette and Jesse on Facebook.
Before her death, the pair maintained a long distance relationship spanning three years and seeing the widow part with $200,000. When Ms Jacobs left for South African to meet with "Jesse" on November 22, 2012, it wasnt the first time she had travelled to see him, but this time they were to be married. She wanted to settle in Nigeria, although her children had begged her to stay in WA. Ms Jacobs' body was discovered in her rented villa by South African police on February 9. Mr Omokoh, who claimed to be the last person to see her alive, vanished after speaking to police. According to his Facebook profile the 28-year-old is a student who has worked as a "distributor for an engineering company". "If you can't inspire a woman with the love of you then fill her to the brim with the love of herself and all that runs over will be yours," he posted on January 15 - one month before he met up with Ms Jacobs. "Happy a man that marry the girl he loves and happier a man that loves the girl he married," he wrote in October. In a chilling exchange with Ms Jacobs in March, Mr Omokoh posted "like all, love some and trust none...", to which Ms Jacobs commented, "why do you say that Jesse." "Cos of some fake friends," he responded. She had changed her own Facebook profile status to "in a relationship" by March. The following month Mr Omokoh wrote "ALL RELATIONSHIPS GO THROUGH HELL, BUT REAL RELATIONSHIPS GET THROUGH IT..." to which Ms Jacobs posted: "Yes but love will survive in the long run." One of Ms Jacobs' six children, who did not want to be identified, told 6PR radio in Perth on Monday her mother had been to South Africa four times, initially to meet another man. "She wasn't naive when it came to other countries, we lived in Malaysia for many years," she said. When the woman's brother received a phone call from a South African guest house with tragic news, the siblings were in disbelief. "I thought it was a hoax and I wouldn't believe that my mother had actually passed so I rang the consulate," one daughter said. "A couple of hours later they called me back and gave me their apologies." A joint operation between WA Police and Consumer Protection, Operation Sunbird, had sent Ms Jacobs a letter warning that she may be the victim of fraud, but it was too late. By the time the letter arrived in Ms Jacobs' mailbox she had already left for her ill-fated trip. When her children met with detectives in South Africa, they discovered her money, jewellery, laptop and credit cards were all missing. Then there was an empty pill bottle found near her body. "Anybody who knew my mother would know that there is no way that she would do that," her daughter said. "This has gone on for four years and after four years there is a very strong element of trust that has been built." One of Ms Jacobs' sons warned others not to head overseas to meet people they've met online. "It could be a one-way ticket," he said. "The consequences of this internet scam has taken her life. "We weren't strong enough to stop her." Major fraud squad detective Dom Blackshaw said WA Police were now involved in the investigation and treating the death as "suspicious". "These relationship frauds are being perpetrated by ruthless overseas criminals who are members of organised crime syndicates," he said. "To travel to Africa to visit someone you have met on the internet is extremely dangerous and could, as in the case of Ms Jacobs, cost your life."

A 22-year-old Nigerian, Jude Ejikonye Ilechukwu who resides in Thailand was recently apprehended by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with 1.295kg of substance discovered to be methamphetamine.
Ilechukwu was arrested at the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. The drug which was concealed inside his luggage, was detected during the screening of passengers on Ethiopian Airline at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The MMIA Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Hamza Umar, said the drug was carefully hidden in the suspects’ luggage. Umar said: “Like several factory modes of drug concealment, we had to practically cut the bag open to detect the drugs. “Ordinarily, when you open the bag, you will not see the drug. “We found two brown parcels of drugs weighing 1.295kg.” According to Ilechukwu, he was lured into the drug deal by a friend he met in Thailand. In his words: “I am a business man. I relocated to Thailand last year where I buy goods and send to Nigeria. “It was in Thailand that I met a man who introduced me into drug business. He gave my number to his partner in Lagos who lodged me in a hotel. “They made me to contribute N750,000 as my contribution and promised me a handsome reward on arrival in Thailand. “My focus was on the profit that will accrue to me. It was when I was arrested that I realised I had made a big mistake.” The suspect attended Okija Community Primary School and Okija Grammar School, Anambra State before he started business. The Chairman/Chief Executive officer of NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, said that the Agency will investigate all cases and bring drug culprits to justice. Giade said; “The Agency is prepared to bring drug barons to justice. Our target is to reduce the drug problem to the barest minimum.” It was confirmed that the suspect will soon be charged to court.  NO BE SMALL THING!
