According to news reports, the Composite Group Air Force Base in Maiduguri, the Maiduguri  International Airport and other places in Borno State were attacked in the early hours of this morning by gunmen believed to be members of Boko Haram. The gunmen, said to be over 300, attacked with heavy artillery including Rocket Propelled Grenade Launchers.

Several people were killed by the explosives which the terrorist planted in targeted areas, including the newly constructed trailer park along Damaturu- Maiduguri road, military check points, residential and public buildings. Some Boko Haram members and securities operatives were killed in the attack.

The attack this morning has prompted a 24-hour curfew in the city. Only vehicles on emergency calls and essential services are allowed to move for now.

There's serious pandemonium on Ajah Road in Lagos as you read this. Area boys and passers-by are clashing with policemen after a trailer crushed five students as they were crossing the road. The sad incident happened close to Ikota Primary School and the dead pupils are believed to be making their way to the school when they were killed. The tanker driver abandoned his truck and escaped.

The people protesting are insisting they won't leave the area until Governor Fashola shows up. They are blaming the gruesome accident on the lack of a pedestrian bridge in the area. The two express lanes have been blocked by the angry protesters which has caused heavy traffic in the area.

There's heavy police presence in the area... NO BE SMALL THING!!

There was confusion in Lagos yesterday as men of the State Security Services, SSS, and operatives of the Operation Mesa (OP Mesa), a joint armed forces and police security unit, arrested two suspected members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect with explosives at Ijora Badia area of Lagos state. 

One of the suspects is from the North while other is a Chadian. Both were whisked away to Abuja by the SSS. Newsmen gathered that the arrested suspects had packed an unspecified number of explosives in bags, which were hidden in the ceiling of the house in which they were arrested.

A resident, who did not want his name mentioned, said: “Some SSS men and policemen came to our area early this morning and recovered some bombs. Those who are close to the house said that the bombs were packed in some bags and kept in the ceiling.” GOD HELP NIGERIA... NO BE SMALL THING!
