Friday Osondu better known by his stage name Riva 9, is a Nigerian – Irish singer-songwriter, and record producer. The moniker “Riva 9” according to the artist stem from being the ninth child in his family and a native of ‘River Niger’ area of Delta state. He graduated with Honours Degrees in Human resources Management from Dublin Institute Of Technology before starting off Ten Child World in 2008 as a Business Empire that will front future businesses and brands.

In 2009, Ten Child World C.E.O – RIVA 9 released his first single debut ‘Invitation’. The single bearing his trademark voice over a blend of Hiphop, R’n'B and Afro beat was a big success in Ireland and eventually went viral on the net. ‘Invitation’ without a doubt, announced the arrival of the scintillating performer admired not only for his unique voice but for his catchy lyrics and style. Subsequently, Riva 9′s career gained momentum through a series of successful collaborations with both established and upcoming artists.

He was nominated at the Tush award Nigeria 2010/2011 in the best song African in diaspora category for his song ‘No bodyz party’. His songs and music videos have amassed a large number of viewership on the internet and are never short of airplay in media houses across the globe.
However, most people will agree that the highlights of the 2011 Ireland African Music Awards (IAMA) was when Riva 9 cleaned up by walking off the Arena clutching two prestigious awards for Best up-coming Artiste and Best Song Collaboration. The Award winning song which was a remix of ‘Invitation’ had a hand full of top names like Pop Dogg, Big Jay, Sematecino, Joe Chad, Badman Floss & Emilia.

His second single ‘Peace Of Mind’ earned Riva 9 another award at the 2012 Ireland African Music Awards (IAMA) for Best Video. The song was also a collaboration featuring a host of talents including Da Boss, Stone (Of Stone and Jezreel) and Nigeria’s hot sensation Danny Young.
He pulled off a smashing performance after receiving a recognition Award from the Ankara Festival Dublin 2013 for the video/song of his single ‘Peace Of Mind’. His latest album ‘Child Of The Struggle’ (a work in progress collaboration) is said to be a solid album to watch out for according to sources. The album, mainly a collaboration with Pacroc7ing, a South African Producer and rapper is due to be released in December 2013. Singles extracted from the Album went viral online and eventually hit the airwaves in Ireland and South Africa. Three singles in total have already been released from this album.

As a hard worker who believes in ‘Go Hard or Go Home’, Riva 9 has toured and performed in several fund raising events, concerts and sold out shows around Europe and Nigeria. During an interview after a performance in a fundraising event in UK, the artist confirmed his first feature film debut in a Nollywood Film shot in Ireland early this year. The film titled ‘Born Again’ is directed by the Award winning Dublin based film director Joe Chad and will be out soon. Finally, during a press release, a spokesperson for 1universe Music hinted that Riva 9 has finished shooting a music video as part of a collaboration project with one of Nigeria’s hottest sensation, Sound Sultan. The much anticipated single is scheduled to be released in November 2013. He is currently polishing up an ongoing project and plans to launch a massive promotion campaign in Africa with the aim of establishing a Network base in Nigeria for 1universe Music/Ten Child World. These are Riva 9′s international album project. Every song/single in this album will be tagged as INTERNATIONAL VERSION and will be released in Ireland sometime in 2014. Album 1 is comprised of European kind/style of music like Pop, Techno, dance etc. It will be marketed ‘Only In Europe’ so expect to hear a few European artists. The album showcases the work of other European Producers, Sound Engineers etc. ‘Tonight’ is a title of the first single from this album and it’s expected to drop in November this year

The Afro beat album is dedicated to Riva 9′s fans, so expect African artistes both top and up-coming artistes, great/top/new producers on this album. Riva 9 Set to Release Koloma (Rock and Roll Video ft Sound Sultan
The song and video of the single ‘Koloma’, a collaboration with Nigeria’s top artist Sound Sultan has generated so much hype in the media for some time. The much anticipated video was shot in Nigeria and directed by Joe Chad a close pal of Riva 9. The artist and director who are both label partners joined Sound Sultan in Nigeria during the making of the music video. Latest report suggested that 1 Universe Music/Ten Child World kept things under wrap but hinted that the Video will hit the airwaves in Nigeria and internationally before the end of 2013. The single (audio) is already on air being promoted in Nigeria by top radio stations – Rhythm FM, Wazobia FM, Top FM, Beat FM, Naija FM and other media houses. The move has been hailed as a mega step to establish the presence of Nigerian Artists in Ireland on the Afro music scene in Africa and Nigeria in particular. The explosive ‘Koloma’ (Rock and Roll) featuring Sound Sultan is expected to hit the streets this November. I No See The Love single is taking from his upcoming album The Sacrifice In Making Riva 9 -The Afrobeat version, a follow up single to Koloma(Rock and Roll). I No See The Love is a song that has connections to real live happenings. It exhibits Riva 9′s ability, style and passion to writing and making music. Riva 9 style of expressing himself through music can be attributed to influence by the likes of the Great Bob Marley, The Great Fela Kuti, Wyclef, Tupac, R. Kelly and others. The song which means ‘I don’t see the Love’ reflects on the lack of love and compassion around the world.
‘I No See the Love’ as a phrase means – I can’t see the love; I can’t see the love around the world. It’s a mixture of Afro, Soul, and Reggae tone. The song was produced by one of Nigeria’s Music industry Pioneers, top Nigeria Producer, C.E.O of Dove Records, and Riva 9′s manager Nelson Brown. It has a touch of class and was recorded in Dublin’s Hi- Def studio by Nefu Steel, Mixed/mastered by Joe Chad.. Nigeria music blogs should watch out this November.

‘To Night’ is the first Single taken from Riva 9 up-coming album THE SACRIFICA IN MAKING RIVA 9 (International Version). The album which is strictly for his European fans is scheduled for release mid 2014. “To Night” is produced by Joe Chad, it has a wide range of styles including dance beats, Techno, Pop and so on. “To Night” Song will be released this November.
